Once you have signed into your Xbox Account and set up your Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One save files will automatically transfer to your Xbox Series X / S.

According to, it seems that PS3 saves are specific to user accounts. The Borderlands 3 add-on content and save files can be ported to next-gen consoles within the same console family so you can jump right back into the action of Borderlands 3.

Edit: Totally missed the save data part of the question. The trophies are linked to your PSN identity and should load with no problems in that case. That's what a couple of them have been doing with GTA4, now.) You can transfer trophies to another console, which works just by moving your account to the new console. (Also, the User 1 profile has now become the "communal save slot", for when people decide to combine their efforts on a game rather than play and save separately. But at least we know not to make the same mistake in the future. The game gives an error message saying the save file can't be loaded because they didn't create it.Īfter banging our collective heads against this, we contacted the only other person we know with a PS3 (my girlfriend's sister's boyfriend) he hasn't really messed with multiple users on his machine, so he didn't really know any way around it, but said that he thinks the restriction has to do with the trophy system, and Sony trying to keep people from downloading 100% complete saves from the internet and adding a whole game's worth of trophies to their ID without earning them. It wasn't until later that people who'd followed those same steps discovered that, when logged into their new profile, they couldn't actually load the damn save file. At that point, I thought everything was gravy. So I made a new profile called CLAVDIVS, identified my save file under User 1 (I loaded, saved and looked for the one with the current timestamp), and copied it to CLAVDIVS.

in the past involving accidental overwriting of other people's saves. This seemed like a godsend there've been. After about four of us had our own GTA4 saves, I started poking around the system menu and discovered the ability to create different user profiles, which each had their own saved-game space. At first, we did what he usually do on the PS2: each person playing the game picks a save slot and remembers which is theirs. Long version: A friend of mine just got a PS3, at long last. So WTF is the point of letting you copy them? Short version: The PS3 seems to let you copy save files from one user profile to another, but won't let you load a save file that your profile didn't create.
